On February 14, 2026, love took center stage in the Municipality of Polanco as the Local Government Unit (LGU) held its annual Kasalan ng Bayan at the Municipal Gymnasium, bringing together couples in a solemn yet festive community mass wedding ceremony.
More than a symbolic observance of Valentine’s Day, the initiative served as a direct intervention of the local government to support couples in formalizing their union, while easing the financial burden often associated with civil weddings. The event reflects the LGU’s continuing commitment to accessible social services and family-centered governance.
A total of 22 participating couples were provided with complete wedding packages fully subsidized by the LGU. These included wedding attire, bouquets, wedding cake and wine, rice and kitchen essentials such as rice cookers, household starter items, and Bibles—offering not only ceremonial support but also practical assistance as couples begin their married life.
Mayor Shaia Ruth Uy highlighted that the Kasalan ng Bayan is designed to go beyond formality, emphasizing its deeper social purpose in strengthening families and community stability.
“Marriage is not only a celebration of love, but a foundation of stronger families and a more stable community. Through this program, we are ensuring that couples are supported as they begin this new chapter,” Mayor Uy said.
The activity is part of the LGU’s sustained social welfare agenda, which prioritizes inclusive programs for family development, legal documentation, and community empowerment. By institutionalizing the mass wedding program, the municipality continues to promote dignity, equality, and access to essential public services.
The ceremony concluded in a warm and celebratory atmosphere, with families, local officials, and community members witnessing the union of couples who shared not only vows, but also a meaningful beginning supported by public service and collective care.
